This is probably the most popular and often visited tract of the Rapidan WMA.

The Rapidan track is about 3,250 acres or a little over 5 square miles.

Below is a 3-D digital version of the USGS map for this tract.  I had to free hand the part to the east on Doubletop Mountain, so it is off a little.

There is a co-op that has some cabins you can rent on this tract.


Get a good map and use the following for reference.

From US 29, Turn West on SR 609 (Hoover Road) and go 9.4 miles, bear right on SR 231 and go .4 miles, turn left on SR 649 and go 98 yards, turn right on SR 672 and go 76 yards, turn left on 649 and go 3.5 miles, keep going straight at the intersection with Blakey Mountain Road, in 2.5 miles you will reach the Rapidan Wildlife Management Area.
